Centre News New Art Exhibition at the UIMC, Corinne Tounsi and Annie Echène

Saint-Paul-de-Vence, 3 June, 2008

Corinne Tounsi

From 16 May to 20 July, 2008 Corinne Tounsi will be exhibiting her figurative subjects in the lobby and restaurant of the UIMC.

The theme of her exhibition is a poetic feminine vision of the universe, a world to be shared with those who are moved by the infinite softness of the embroidered materials and wire which she creates.

Corinne Tounsi has been living in Vence for 18 years. To her the area has been a stimulating place in which she has been able to fulfill her artistic talent.

Corinne Tounsi paints the ingenuous faces of women. She simplifies the faces but highlights the curves with multiple textures creating the image of the elusive woman. The technique of needlework and painting and the use of rustic pinks, reds and blacks reinforce the ode of the woman. These images of flowers and woman contain scents of the Orient.

Annie Echène

Alongside the exhibition of Corinne Tounsi there will be the opportunity to see the work of Annie Echène.

She is an artist who is familiar to the UIMC as she had her first exhibition at the centre in 1994. This time around she will be exhibiting her refined abstract paintings and pastel drawings in the Provence conference room, business centre and first floor corridor. There is a surrealistic flavour in some of Annie Echène’s paintings.

Both exhibitions are set to be inauguration on Thursday 12 June, 2008 at the Global Public Sector event organised by Unisys with representatives of the local community.
