Saint-Paul-de-Vence, 28th February 2008

From February to April 2008, the UIMC will present an exhibition of abstract, acrylic paintings by artist MH Ponchon-Davenas as well as the sculptures of Pierre Mourard.

MH Ponchon-Davenas uses symbolism to convey the abstract; such as a word, emotion or a particular moment. It portrays a surrealist side or humour and will be displayed in the lounge and corridors of the centre. She paints with acrylic on prepared wood or paper and through the use of plant elements in her work she demonstrates the beauty of nature which is often forgotten.

The wooden sculptures of local sculptor Pierre Mourard are also exhibited in the lounge. His choice of wood as a raw material illustrates his understanding of the delicate and complex nature of human beings. Through his sculptures he seeks to express events, ideas, profound emotions, states of mind and feelings. A specific example of Mourard expressing his thoughts is shown through his sculpture “Questions Diverses” which is displayed in the auditorium. This piece establishes a relationship with the lively ‘questions and answers’ sessions which are part of many seminar programmes at the UIMC.
.
The exhibition will be inaugurated on the evening of 27th March, 2008 with participants from the local MPI Café event.  Guests from the UIMC local community will also be present for the cocktail and the presentation of the artists.

In parallel to this main exhibition, artwork from landscape painter Bernard Payet is displayed on the first floor of the Unisys International Management Centre. Bernard Payet is one of the numerous ‘Artists of UIMC’ and was the very first artist to exhibit his works at the centre in 1990.
